Privacy Policy

Note Pierce (“we,” “our,” or “the extension”) is a browser extension published under the Crescendo Companion name. It is an ear-training app for musicians: drills for intervals, chord quality, scales, cadences, inversions, and rhythm, with a mastery-based level ladder, spaced review, weak-spot practice, and custom drills. This policy explains what data Note Pierce handles, why, who it is shared with, and how to contact us.

Note Pierce is built to keep your practice data on your own device. We run no analytics, advertising, or practice-data servers for the extension.

• No analytics or usage tracking in the extension
• No cookies in the extension
• No advertising or marketing trackers
• No user accounts managed by us
• No microphone access, and no audio recording of any kind
• No reading of page content, forms, credentials, or browsing history
• Your progress, answers, and settings are never sent to our servers

Note Pierce saves your practice data in device-local browser extension storage. That includes completed levels, answer history and accuracy, spaced-review state, weak spots, custom drill setups, practice history and streaks, reminder settings, interface preferences, language, theme, and audio settings such as instrument and A4 calibration.

This data is written to your browser profile on your device. It is not sent to a Note Pierce server, and there is no account to sign in to. It is removed when you clear extension data or uninstall Note Pierce, which you can do from your browser's extensions settings page.

Note Pierce also keeps a small local cache of your Pro status returned by ExtensionPay, and the purchase email address ExtensionPay reports, so the extension can show which email holds Pro. Card numbers, CVV, billing address, and transaction history are never stored by Note Pierce.

All sound in Note Pierce is played out, never taken in. Questions are either synthesized in your browser or played from guitar recordings bundled with the extension. Note Pierce does not request microphone access, does not capture tab audio, and cannot hear you play.

Practice reminders are optional and off until you turn them on. When enabled, Note Pierce schedules a browser alarm for the days and times you pick and shows a desktop notification at that time. The reminder content is your own schedule; nothing is sent anywhere.

A reminder can also appear as a small card on the webpage you are currently viewing, if you turn the “show on webpage” option on and approve your browser's all-sites permission prompt. To place that card, Note Pierce checks the active tab's URL locally to see whether the page is eligible. It does not read, collect, modify, or transmit page content, page text, form data, credentials, or browsing history, and it does not store or transmit the URL. You can revoke that permission at any time from your browser's extension settings, and reminders will continue as desktop notifications only.

Note Pierce Pro is a one-time purchase processed by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe as its payment processor. Note Pierce does not collect, store, or have access to your card number, CVV, billing address, or any financial data. The payment form is hosted on ExtensionPay's and Stripe's servers, never inside the extension.

After a purchase or restore, Note Pierce receives only what it needs to unlock Pro:

• Your purchase email address, so the extension can show which email holds Pro
• Your current paid status, used to unlock Pro features

Note Pierce requests permissions only for user-facing features:

• storage and unlimitedStorage save your progress, review state, custom drills, and preferences on your device. unlimitedStorage only affects how much room Note Pierce has on your disk; nothing is stored anywhere else.
• sidePanel shows the Note Pierce interface in the browser side panel
• alarms schedules the practice reminders you create
• notifications shows those reminders
• scripting draws the optional on-page reminder card, and only on the tab you are viewing, after you grant all-sites access
• Host access to https://extensionpay.com/* is required for the payment and Pro license check
• All-sites host access is optional and never granted at install. It is requested at runtime only if you turn the on-page reminder on, and only for that card.

This website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider, which may process standard technical request data such as IP address, user agent, referring page, requested URL, and timestamps for hosting, security, and debugging. We do not use that data to build profiles or serve ads.

If you email us for support, we receive whatever you choose to include, such as your name, email address, purchase email, browser and device details, screenshots, or a description of the problem.

We do not sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or transfer user data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or resellers. We share information only to provide what you ask for, such as payment and entitlement handling through ExtensionPay and Stripe; when you contact support; when needed for security or abuse prevention; when required by law; or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Note Pierce's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Note Pierce uses browser extension APIs only to provide the features described in the extension and its store listing. It does not sell extension user data, use it for advertising, transfer it to advertising platforms, or allow human review of extension data except when you ask for support, when needed for security or abuse prevention, or when required by law.

Note Pierce is designed to hold as little data as possible. Practice data stays in browser extension storage on your device, and payment data is handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe rather than by us. Network requests for Pro verification are made over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and you remain responsible for the security of your device and browser profile.

Note Pierce is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information through a support email or a payment flow, contact us and we will help address it with the relevant provider where needed.

Practice data stays in your browser profile until you delete it, clear extension data, or uninstall the extension.

• To remove all stored practice data: uninstall Note Pierce, or clear its data from your browser's extension settings
• To stop reminders: turn them off in Note Pierce, or revoke notification and all-sites permissions in your browser
• Support emails are kept as long as reasonably needed to answer you, keep support history, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations
• For purchase data held by ExtensionPay or Stripe, contact us and we will point you to the right provider

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit personal information we can identify with you. For Note Pierce that generally means your purchase email and support messages, since practice data lives in your own browser. To make a request, email crescendocompanion@gmail.com. We may need to verify the request, may direct you to ExtensionPay or Stripe for payment data they control, and may keep limited records where allowed or required by law.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the extension after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
